A sighting of somebody who seemed to be carrying a gun close to Helix Excessive College prompted a quick lockdown of the campus till police decided that the seeming firearm was a leisure plastic-pellet gun.
A 911 caller reported shortly after 11 a.m. that the presumably armed individual was in a bunch of suspicious-looking individuals gathered near a set of baseball fields on the faculty within the 7300 block of College Avenue, based on the La Mesa Police Division.
College directors directed college students and staffers to safe themselves of their lecture rooms and workplaces whereas patrol personnel investigated, LMPD Lt. Katy Lynch stated.
Police quickly discovered a bunch of potential suspects close to a automotive parked within the 4200 block of Lowell Avenue.
“An airsoft gun was situated inside that automobile, and officers decided not one of the concerned people had introduced the airsoft gun onto the varsity campus,” the lieutenant stated.
Police then gave an all-clear for the varsity to renew regular operations.
